Nottingham Campus Upgrade and Renovation Project Design Description

Project Introduction:

This project is the summer renovation project for the main campus of the University of Nottingham Ningbo – a bidding project.

Design Concept:

This project is the renovation of Building 12, a student dormitory at the University of Nottingham Ningbo.  The aim is to transform traditional dormitories into unique and vibrant living spaces. The design is based on the core concept of a "Time Train," drawing inspiration from British subway stations, transforming the courtyard-style building into a symbolic representation of a journey of growth.

The spatial layout, colors, and materials of the building all reflect the concept of a train journey, metaphorically representing students embarking on their journey, meeting others, and growing together. Every space is designed to serve a narrative function as a "station," stimulating creativity and social interaction through a scenographic living experience.
